Create your free identity

Your private memory key is created in your browser and never leaves your device. You sign in with a provider only so SAIHM can confirm you’re a real, unique person and keep the free tier fair — it is never used to hold or see your key.

You’re in — your free memory is active

Save your key file. This file is the key to your memory and the only way into it. SAIHM does not hold a copy and cannot recover it if you lose it.

Download key file

Keep a copy of your key file somewhere safe, such as a password manager, before you move it. Your key file alone opens your memory, so keep it as private as a password.

Put the key file where SAIHM reads it

The SAIHM client reads its key from free-identity.key in a folder named .saihm in your home folder. These steps create that folder and move the file into it from your Downloads folder. If your browser saved the file somewhere else, use that folder in place of Downloads.

macOS. Open Terminal (in Applications, then Utilities), paste these lines and press Return:

Windows. Open PowerShell from the Start menu, paste these lines and press Enter:

On macOS and Linux, the last line makes the file readable only by you. On Windows, your user folder is already private to your account.

If you see A key file is already there and have not run these lines before, this computer already holds a SAIHM key, the only key to the memory it opens. Leave that file in place. To use your new key instead, save it in another folder, run chmod 600 on it (macOS and Linux), and add SAIHM_MASTER_SECRET_FILE to the env settings below, set to the new file’s full path, such as /Users/you/keys/free-identity.key on macOS, /home/you/keys/free-identity.key on Linux or C:/Users/you/keys/free-identity.key on Windows. Write out the whole path, because a path that starts with ~ does not work there. On Windows, use forward slashes as shown, because a single backslash breaks the configuration. For a key in another folder, use the configuration below; the plugin uses the key in ~/.saihm.

Connect your AI assistant

You need Node.js 20.19 or later. Paste the following into your MCP client configuration (for example, the Claude Desktop config file), then restart your assistant. You only do this once.

In Claude Code, you can run /plugin marketplace add SAIHM-Admin/saihm-claude-plugin, then /plugin install saihm@saihm, and restart Claude Code. The plugin and this configuration add the same server, so use one of the two.

If SAIHM’s tools don’t appear after the restart, check that you have Node.js 20.19 or later, run npx -y @saihm/mcp-server-pro@0.14.2 --version once in a terminal, then restart again.

Your assistant connects automatically and stays connected — there is no token to refresh or re-paste. The configuration holds no key. SAIHM reads it from your key file on this computer.
